Transfer Resources

Benedictine University at Mesa is committed to serving the needs of the current and future transfer student. Documents and links on this page are meant to provide information and guidance for students in various stages of the transfer process. We also strongly encourage all students to work closely with community college advisors as well as Benedictine University at Mesa Admissions Counselors on a regular basis to ensure that coursework applies towards degree requirements. Unofficial evaluation of previous college coursework and advice on future course selection is available during appointments with Benedictine University at Mesa Admissions Counselors.

Major checklists:

Major checklists are major specific advising tools that list core electives, major courses and graduation requirements. Benedictine students use these documents as guides throughout their entire college career by checking off remaining requirements as they are satisfied.

Course Equivalency Guide:

In an effort to help facilitate transfer from colleges within the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD), Benedictine University at Mesa has created a comprehensive course equivalency guide. The document lists the majority of the courses offered at colleges within with the Maricopa County Community College District and the corresponding Benedictine University course equivalent. Due to the wide variety of course offerings, many courses may not be equivalent to a specific Benedictine University course, however, it is important to notice the core elective codes used to distinguish courses that will satisfy core requirements.

The MCCCD Course Equivalency Guide contains information on courses from the following colleges:
Chandler-Gilbert Community College
Estrella Mountain Community College
Gateway Community College
Glendale Community College
Mesa Community College
Paradise Valley Community College
Phoenix College
Rio Salado College
Scottsdale Community College
South Mountain Community College

Courses from colleges that we do not have established transfer guides with are evaluated based on criteria set forth by the Transfer Credit Policy.

Pathways to a degree:

Pathways have been created for students who are currently in the early stages of pursuing or plan to pursue completion of the Associates degree at the Maricopa County Community College District.

Transfer Credit Evaluation Process:

A successful transfer experience starts with an early understanding of the transfer process. Below the process is outlined:

Official transfer credit evaluation is performed after admission and only when official transcripts are received from regionally accredited institutions.

If you have not been admitted to Benedictine University, please see the Admissions Requirements.

If you have not requested for official transcripts be sent to Benedictine University, please contact the college or university you attended and request official transcripts be sent to:

Benedictine University at Mesa
225 E. Main Street
Mesa, AZ 85201

Please be aware that transcripts are only considered official if sealed in the original envelope from the issuing institution.

Once you have been admitted to Benedictine University, your transcripts will be evaluated using criteria set forth by the Transfer Credit Policy. The total number of hours transferring and course equivalencies in the skills, core electives and major areas will be determined. Some agreements have been established with area community colleges that recognize the completion of the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degrees. Department chairs may be consulted when determining equivalencies in the major credit and cognate section. Syllabi may be requested for further evaluation in some cases.

As part of the evaluation process, a major checklist specific to your declared major is filled out, listing only the transfer credit that applies to requirements listed. There may be courses included in the total number of hours accepted that may not appear on your checklist simply because they do not satisfy a specific requirement. These hours will count towards the 120 semester hours required for graduation with a bachelor's degree.

Transfer credit is then posted on your Benedictine University transcript according to the decisions made at the time of evaluation. Once you are registered for courses, you can view your transfer credit and the corresponding equivalencies under the "view my transfer credit report" link on MyBenU.

Benedictine University at Mesa strives to maintain accuracy, consistency and integrity during every transfer credit evaluation, and makes every effort to research the courses completed.
