This past January, Benedictine University chose to freeze tuition for the 2019-2020 school year, but for 2020-2021 the University is taking things a step further. The Benedictine University Board of Trustees has voted to freeze and lock tuition for traditional undergraduate students at the school’s Lisle and Mesa campuses. This means Benedictine students can expect to pay the current tuition rate each semester until they graduate.
“We realize that choosing a college is a commitment, not just academically and socially, but financially as well,” said Benedictine University President Charles W. Gregory. “Our goal is to make a valuable, Benedictine education as affordable as possible.”
A similar proposal was approved for new traditional undergraduate students, who will have the tuition cost they pay their first semester locked in throughout their time at Benedictine.
“By committing to lock in tuition, we hope to give our students and their families the chance to plan ahead,” said Gregory. “We want them to be able to take advantage of all the opportunities that come their way – whether that be planning to study abroad, landing their dream internship, or finding a job to help fund their education.”
The University continues to rank among the highest in the state of Illinois for return on investment, according to payscale.com. Currently ninety-eight percent of all new Benedictine students receive financial assistance comprised of scholarships, institutional grants, federal and state grants, student loans, and work-study on-campus employment. For the 2020-2021 school year, tuition will be $32,700 at the Lisle campus.
“Our students made a commitment to Benedictine,” said Gregory. “We want them to know we are making a commitment to them as well – a commitment to guide them academically, prepare them professionally, and support them financially.”
