Annual Fund

The Benedictine University's Annual Fund is a program for soliciting ongoing support for Benedictine's programs and students. The funds donated by our alumni, friends and parents help to cover a portion of the true cost of a Benedictine education, making up the difference between tuition revenue and the actual expense. These funds are generally directed to the unrestricted fund (unless the donor requests the dollars to be put in a specific area) of the University relieving the burden on tuition and assisting with Benedictine's daily needs. In this way, we can help to keep tuition costs down and an invaluable Benedictine University education within the reach of those who want it.

President's Society

A President's Society is any individual or corporation who gives a minimum of $1,000 in a fiscal year. Gifts can be cash, securities, real estate, or real property and can support any program at Benedictine University. Employer's matching gifts to individuals or couples counts toward the $1,000 minimum donation to become a President's Associate.

To realize our mission of transmitting the Catholic and Benedictine educational tradition to its students, the University must continue to provide a state-of-the-art facility staffed by the best faculty and staff available. We must do this while keeping tuition affordable.

When you support Benedictine University, we know it is because you believe in our mission and vision to meet the educational needs of today's students.

For more information on becoming a President's Society, call Judy Gavlin at (630) 829-6072 or e-mail jgavlin@ben.edu.

Gifts in Kind

Benedictine University appreciates whenever someone considers making any type of gift. A gift in kind is a gift that may be one of personal property (other than real estate) or a donation of time, talent, and effort.

Personal Property

Outright gifts of artwork, automobiles, or other assets are considered on a case-by-case basis. In most instances, the gifts are tax-deductible at the full current market value and if the assets have appreciated in value, you may avoid the capital gains taxes.

Many time people have generous donation of gifts that can be readily used by Benedictine University. For example, one person gave a car, which had only 25,000 miles on it. The car is now used by our Admissions Department for visiting prospective students at local and non-local high schools. Others have given us relatively new office furniture, and a photocopier. If you have a gift that you feel confident we would be able to use, let us know!

Time, Talent and Effort

People may want to support Benedictine University, but cannot do so financially. Instead, they may be able to offer professional services or unskilled labor. If you are interested in donating your time and effort, call the Advancement Department and we will be able to help direct you to the department related to your offer. (By IRS rules, donations of professional services related to your own profession, are not tax-deductible.)

Corporate and Foundation

The Office of Corporate and Foundation works to identify and develop opportunities for companies to support, through gifts and grants, Benedictine's priorities which align with the business' own interests. Events such as our world-class speaker series have been made possible through corporate donations.

Benedictine University understands that developing a strong partnership requires an elevated level of trust, focusing on benefits and outcomes that are inclusive of both the company's and the University's objectives.

The connection between a university and the corporate and foundation communities benefits all involved. Some ways that your organization can get involved:

  • Gifts in Kind for Educare Ball or the Golf Outing
  • Mentoring of students by professionals in their chosen fields
  • Naming a new or existing space on campus
  • Perpetuate the company name by endowing a professorship
  • Participating in career fairs for juniors and seniors
  • Sponsoring programs or events on campus

We invite you to support the work of Benedictine University through your business or foundation. For more information on becoming a corporate or foundation partner, please call Denise West at (630) 829-6027 or e-mail dwest@ben.edu.
